Competitive exams - The Building Blocks

International  cricket  : Domestic cricket  ::  Professional entrance exams   :  ?????
Ans:  “School level Competitive Exams”

Just as the domestic cricket matches work as a stepping stone for playing international cricket matches, the School level competitive exams like, 4th and 7th Std Scholarships exams, NTS, Pravinya-Pradnya and various others provide a launch pad for the preparation of next level of competitive exams like JEE, NEET, CET, CAT, GMAT etc.

Students are accustomed to School exams which are based on specified syllabus and which generally test your skills like “Point wise answering”, “Presentation” and so on.
Sometimes it is possible to score good marks by just memorizing answers. The competitive exams, however, do not have a prescribed text book or a well defined syllabus. Given syllabus is just a rough guideline and the testing is application oriented. Questions are usually multiple choice and tricky. Hence, thorough preparation of the subject is required. You can’t apply the concepts unless they are crystal-clear in your mind. This way you learn to put more stress on understanding the concepts and basic principles. Cementing these fundamental concepts in mind is the challenging and most important step in the learning process. Applying concepts could then become easier like just erecting the building blocks one over the other.

School level competitive exams stimulate lateral thinking process, open the mind to various possibilities, improve visualization and hence provide a rock solid base. When students prepare for Pravinya and Pradnya mathematics exams they are exposed to a wide array of interesting, tricky and challenging puzzles and problems which are a treat to the brain. They prepare you for the bigger canvas like Olympiad exams.

Entrance exams conducted at national level in 12th Std are not just knowledge based. They test the mental ability, asses logical reasoning power and analytic skills of the student. School level competitive exams help one to acquire and enhance these skills.
Exams strategy is as important aspect as actual studies in the preparation of various entrance exams. School level Competitive exams familiarize you to the different patterns and types of questions. You learn time management and also learn to mould yourself according to the requirement of any kind of exam.

In a nut shell, the preparation for Competitive exams is all about teasing your brain, learning new concepts and having a break from the somewhat monotonic & predictable school exams.

                        “Tell me and I forget!
                      Teach me and I remember!
                       Involve me and I learn!”
-     Benjamin Franklin

So get involved in the world of mathematics and science, learn new concepts, and by appearing for Competitive exams, prepare yourself to face not just the professional entrance exams but any new challenging situation in life!
